What is CosmeChat
CosmeChat is a website designed for cosmetic products using customers to improve their using experiences through encouraging collaboration between consumers of cosmetic products and reducing cosmetic waste through participating in live, virtual makeup sessions.

Our Mission
To create an interactive platform where novice to professional makeup enthusiasts have a place to meet up and collaborate on makeup looks. To provide real-time feedback, advice, and a community for everyone.
Social Setting
We designed our prototypes with real-world social settings that potential users would find themselves in such as getting ready for a themed event in a beauty salon, experimenting with makeup looks in front of a mirror, and buying makeup products in the cosmetic section of a store.
We created makeup sessions based on themes, so a user would find it useful when getting ready for a themed event in a beauty salon. Also, people who are interested in diversifying their skills by creating different makeup looks would be experimenting with makeup in front of a bathroom mirror. Finally, when purchasing makeup products, users may gain inspiration from our prototype makeup session and buy those corresponding makeup products in the cosmetic section of a store.
Current Problems
Many beginners in makeup may not have someone that’s professional enough to teach them essential makeup skills.
People that are new to makeup may not have a community for them to practice or improve makeup skills collaboratively.
Many online makeup tutorials may not able to satisfy each person’s needs or target specific skin problems.
Opportunities
Offer users different kinds of live makeup sessions to design various makeup looks, learn professional makeup skills, and solve specific skin problems collaboratively.
Provide users with a friendly, harmonious, and interactive community to ask makeup questions, share cosmetics using experiences, and connect with friends.
Final Prototype
Our final prototype is a revised combination of the first and second prototypes. It includes a website format with fewer tabs and a live makeup session with post meetup opportunities. We focus on the main features like the skin type test, reward system, and live makeup session with voting to make it easy to navigate, interact with, and differentiate it from other makeup sites.
We had a lot of fun with CosmeChat and this project really helped us learn how to create spaces where users can interact with each other in a way that is novel and has never been done before.
